Introduction

Kutni Island Madhya Pradesh

Kutni island is a water tourism destinations in Chhatarpur district of Madhya Pradesh. It is located close to Khajuraho temples site thus often seen in association with Khajuraho tourism destination. Locally it is popular as Khajwa Kutni dam which offers backwater tourism for tourists. Its name is derived from Kutni river on which a dam was made by government to offer multipurpose river canal facility for Bundelkhand region. As we know that Bundelkhand region is basically considered as an arid region thus such dam project is very much required here to ensure water supply to farmers for irrigation purpose and help local society to improve there financial status. Considering the further scope for water tourism, here MPSTDC made its popular MPT Kutni Island resort in Khajwa town. This resort is developed in island location to attract tourists visiting Khajuraho temples and Panna national park. Due to scenic view, it is often presented as romantic destinations in Madhya Pradesh.
