Very few people are aware about this breathtaking place which is approx 22 km to the proximity of Khajuraho and 44 km from district headquarter of Panna. This beautiful water fall is situated on the Ken River, and comes in under Chhatarpur district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. This is about 30 meters deep canyon formed with pure crystalline granite in different colors like pink, green, misty white, and red to grey. Variation is color is due to different chemical compositions in these rocks. These rocks are approx. 10 million years old and believed to be formed due to some kind of volcanic eruption. The most fascinating thing about this place is that, there is dozens of small and big falls in regular stretches, some of them are seasonal having furious water flow during rainy season. One should must note that as per name, Raneh fall is not just a water-fall site. It is part of Ken Gharial reserve in which rule of Panna tiger reserve applies. Here major tourist attractions are its natural scenic ambience, plenty of birding is possible in woodland part of this reserve. Guide is provided at entry gate thus we can do birding in company of a trained forest guide. When we proceed further, we will find a natural canyon with rocky cliff. This location will offer scenic view of natural water fall and if luck prevails, we will have sighting of gharials. In Ken river, we can see gharials at this spot. With the change in season, water level will reduce and gharial sighting may also fall but one thing that will still remain available for visitors is its rocks of different colors. They are granite rocks of varying color. Those who have interest in geology or may have not seen granite rocks, can best enjoy this place with millions year old rocks.
