Safari Timings at Panna national park

Basically safari timings are decided by park management of any national park. Logical base for deciding the safari timing is to coincide timing with timing of sunrise and sunset in any particular month or period. Thus with the change in sunrise and sunset timing, we will notice that slight change in safari timing. Main idea is to allow core zone safaris in day time only and with the fall in sunlight, we should windup the activity and abandon the core forest area from any tourism activity. Now you may raise question, then why night safari is allowed ? Its possible answer is that night safaris are always done at buffer zone and never in core zone forest. Second important point is the vehicles count of night safari is far less than day safari count.

Why safari time changes ?

Safari timing is dependent on timing of sunrise and sunset. As per change in season, sunrise and sunset timing changes thus accordingly park management adjusts safari timing. This is the reason why we find change in safari timing. Mostly this variation is of 15 minutes to 30 minutes.

Why core-buffer safari timing differs ?

Basically there is not much timing difference in core zone jeep safari and buffer zone jeep safari. As mentioned above, timings are decided by local park management authority thus as per ground situation, they can make some timing difference, if found justified. For example, at Panna national park, tourists are mainly residing at resorts, close to Madla gate and use Madla gate ticket counter for safari activities. Now Akola buffer zone entry gate is approx. 30 km from Madla gate. It means it may take 45 min, for a safari jeep to travel from Madla gate to Akola gate. This means guest will have to either leave too early or enter late. In such situation, park management may decide to allow some more time to Akola zone guests, due to distance problem. This all is discretionary power of Field Director of Panna national park, a competent authority. Being a tourist or jeep safari operator, we have to follow the rule.
