Whenever we talk about tiger safaris in India, Central India region comes first in our mind. Major concentration of tiger population in India is lying in this region and Madhya Pradesh is the main epicenter with highest tiger population. This is the reason why majority of tiger safari tours of India includes tiger reserves of Madhya Pradesh, in there tour itineraries. Even expert says that Madhya Pradesh has the largest forest cover in country with abundance of bio-diversity and catchment areas of important rivers. Here vast forest cover contributes significantly to the environmental and ecological balance with water conservation, in the country. In order to do the forest management and protection, state of Madhya Pradesh have there own Forest Policy 1988 in which stress was given on ecological and environmental importance of forests. At the same time rights of the local communities, dependent on the forests, have been given priority. This policy is not market-oriented but on sustenance oriented for the communities, dependent of forest to ensure benefits for tribal population and weaker section of local population.
