Madhya Pradesh have large bamboo forest areas in various tiger reserves like Bandhavgarh, Kanha tiger reserve etc. Similarly we can find them in abundance in districts like Mandla, Balaghat, Shahdol, Seoni, Jabalpur, Rewa etc. Due to its good presence, tribal people developed the art of using bamboo to produce many useful products that will be very helpful in there daily life like basket, roof sheets, hunting tools, hats, mats etc. This made them self reliant, saves there money and lead to a naturally connected lifestyle which keeps them away from plastic pollution. Bamboo is so much useful that in almost all social events like marriage, death, child birth etc. there products are used in cultural activities thus it is integral part of life in southern and south-eastern Madhya Pradesh. One can easily find bamboo art products in whole towns of Central India region.

Bamboo Artists

Now a days, in urban towns, we can find artists are not specific to any tribe or we can say people from many tribes are engaged in this art  to earn ther livelihood. Where as if we will move deep inside  the village areas, small towns, here we can find artists from some specific tribes like Baigas, Gonds in southern or south-eastern Madhya Pradesh. Where as in Betul district (western Madhya Pradesh) Turi tribe people are more engaged in bamboo basket weaving art. In Anuppur district, we can find many Baiga villages where artists works on bamboo carving art in which they make human-face masks etc.
