Adivart museum is basically a tribal and folk art based museum for visitors at Khajuraho town in Madhya Pradesh. It is a concept introduced by Department of Culture, government of Madhya Pradesh with objective to introduce folk art and tribal culture of state to visitors in Khajuraho region so that they will get international level of exposure and tourists will also get additional knowledge. Presence of such a wonderful platform is act like a bridge which connects rest of the world to local culture and folk art of Madhya Pradesh and at the same time, better exposure opportunity for local tribal people to get exposure beyond local boundaries. Here local tribes like Korku, Gond, Baiga, Bheel, Bharia, Kol, Saharia etc gets representation.
The concept of Adivart museum is to provide a unified platform for different tribal communities of Madhya Pradesh. So far we have known and showcased Khajuraho as a heritage tourism destination in which we have shared information on stone art. It was only one part. When we talk about Madhya Pradesh tourism, it includes heritage, cultural, pilgrimage, tribal tourism also. Concept of this museum is to show other aspects of state tourism, in addition to heritage tourism. This platform puts light on life style of local people living at different corners of state. Here we talk about daily life of people, culture and rituals. Inside this Adivart museum complex we will find representative house, outer exhibits. art galleries and sample of regional housing styles. Those who are not able to cover this vast spread state and have shortage of time should visit such museums to get a concise information at one place. Although it can't be an alternate of practically visiting tribal destinations but still they play important role in educating tourists about tribal tourism. In this section we will find information of housing style of prominent tribes of Madhya Pradesh like gonds, bheel, kol, bhariya, sahariya, baiga and korku tribe. The are ancient natives of Central India who lived close to nature, in forest areas thus there housing pattern have reflection of that deep connection with nature. By visiting there houses, we will find the vital information like in which direction they have entrance gate, location of kitchen area, rooms, what material they use in traditional houses, in which color they usually paint there houses, how they decorate, what are the subject used on decoration, how they store food grains etc.
In central India region, we will find the common factor among all the tribes is that they worship lord Shiva thus they are broadly followers of Shaiva tradition. Terms like Bada dev, Bab dev, Thakur dev, Lingo dev are all used in reference to lord Shiva. Similarly terms like Budhi dai, Budhi mai, Khair mata, Badki dai etc. refers to goddess Shakti. They have popular believe that evolution of human civilization is due to lord Shiva and goddess Shakti thus we should be thankful for them. They they have concept to worship grand trees.
