Madhav lake is located inside Madhav national park. It is also referred as Madhav Sagar lake and is an artificial water body. In past, forest area of this national park was private hunting preserve of Scindia dynasty thus lake was built by the same dynasty in 1918. This lake was developed close to Shakya sagar lake. It ensures water availability to wild animals and helps in maintaining eco-system. Together both the lakes offers great wetland for birds thus it is also a popular birding site for bird watchers. In surrounding areas, we can find other animals like leopard, chital, nilgai, marsh crocodiles etc.
