Baghelkhand region in Central India covers mainly the north-east part of Madhya Pradesh state and some minor portion of south-east Uttar Pradesh state. Its name is derived from Baghel dynasty controlled territory. It is a hindi language word which can be understood as Baghel means Baghel dynasty and Khand refers to the region controlled by Baghela dynasty. In geographical terms it covers Vindhya range area with Indo-Gangetic plains. This region is known for its rich minerals, minning areas and fertile land of Gangetic plains. In present scenario, Baghelkhand region covers districts like Rewa, Satna, Sidhi, Singrauli, Umaria, Shahdol and some parts of Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh state. World famous national parks like Bandhavgarh national park, Sanjay Dubri tiger reserve are also the part of same region.
