Climate

Madhya Pradesh in Central India has a subtropical climate. Like most of north India it has a hot dry summer(April-June) followed by monsoon rains (July-September) and a cool and relatively dry winter. The average rainfall is about 1,370 mm (53.9 in). It decreases from east to west. The south-eastern districts have the heaviest rainfall, some places receiving as much as 2,150 mm (84.6 in), while the western and north-western districts receive 1,000 mm (39.4 in) or less. Usually we can't find extreme temperatures in Madhya Pradesh but still one can experience every season here like summers with heat waves, winters with cold waves and monsoon with heavy rainfall.

Seasons at Madhya Pradesh

 Madhya Pradesh history

Being located at central part of India, Madhya Pradesh state have no sea boundary. It is surrounded by states like Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Chattisgarh thus we can expect impression of climatic conditions of these states in neighboring areas of state. Here we can experience the heat waves of Rajasthan in districts like Neemuch, Sheopur, Morena, Guna, Neemuch etc. Vidarbha region of Maharashtra region touches the boundary of Madhya Pradesh thus the low rainfall area with hot climatic condition can be experienced in districts like Burhanpur, Khargone, Betul, Chhindwara etc. Districts like Rewa, Satna, Singrauli touches the boundary of Uttar Pradesh state thus during months like December to February, we can experience the peak winter of Uttar Pradesh plains with fog conditions. In this part winters are chilling than western Madhya Pradesh. Similarly Balaghat, Mandla, Anuppur, Shahdol shares the state boundary with Chattisgarh state which is known for high rainfall receiving region with dense forest. Majority of tiger reserves and wildlife sanctuaries of Madhya Pradesh state are located in this belt.
