Introduction

Hanuwantiya Island is close to Indore city in incredible Madhya Pradesh. It is a leisure tourism destination with water tourism activities. In local Madhya Pradesh, it is popular with the name of Hanuwantiya Tapu. Famous Jal Mahotav festival is celebrated at this site thus it is very popular among leisure tourism lovers. It is built on backwater of Indira Sagar Dam, built on holy Narmada river. It is located on 150 kms south-east of Indore city and well connected by road. Tourists are mostly using Indore airport and railway station for visiting this water sports destination. Route remains open throughout the year. World famous Jal Mahotsav is organized in same Hanuwantiys Island sports complex, adjoining to MPT Hanuwantiya resort. Jal Mahotsav

It is a world famous event, organized at Hanuwanitya island site for tourists. Its timing and duration is decided by MPSTDC but usually organized in December- January months when tourism remains at its peak in incredible Madhya Pradesh. Due to Christmas festival and new year time, most of the school in India offers long vacations to students thus more families turn up for vacation tour planning thus this period is very much suitable for Jal Mahotsav like event. Its duration is usually of 60 days but as per situation, management may increase or decrease the duration. Proper announcements are made in advance so that tourists can draw there planning and make arrangements accordingly.

Where to stay

Due to varying images on social media, tourists often get confused about stay options are Hanuwantiya Tapu. Here tourists need to understand that tented city is established only during Jal Mahotsav festival. Once this event gets over or before inauguration of this event, tourists will have only stay option as MPT Hanuwantiya Resort. Same is for activities also.
