Tawa dam is made on confluence of Tawa river and Denwa river at Satpura national park of Madhya Pradesh in Central India. Considering the natural beauty of this location, it was developed as a destination for water tourism and relaxation. It lies in Hoshangabad district, almost at central region of Madhya Pradesh state. Here two rivers, Tawa river and Denwa river have their confluence point and later it falls in Narmada river thus at ideal location, this dam was constructed in between 1958 to 1978. It covers an area of 524 sq.km. which falls in Satpura national park, Bori wildlife sanctuary and Pachmarhi wildlife sanctuary. The benefit of this location is that it has natural boundaries of Satpura hills and at confluence point, dam gets water from two different sources thus probability of getting sufficient water is high. Considering the scenic beauty of this place and scope for tourism, MPSTDC developed their hotel for accommodation of visitors so that they can stay here and enjoy the scenic beauty in relaxed mood. While staying here, they can enjoy boat ride experience and do the birding. Tawa dam site is also a good getaway option for citizens of Bhopal city, Indore city, Betul, Hoshangabad town.
