Datia was a popular princely state of Bundelkhand region. It was part of Bundela dynasty coltrolled areas thus it preserves and offers historical informatio of Bundela rule in central India. It is a seven storyed heritage building at very good condition thus visitors can enjoy monuments photography and architectural knowledge while visiting this palace site. If you are traveling from Jhansi to Gwalior city then palace site will be almost on this route. This palace is referred by many names at different records like Bir Singh Dev palace, Purana mahal, Datia palace, Satkhanda palace etc. As it is widely know that Bundela ruler Bir Singh Dev had good relationship with Mughal emperor Jahangir thus in order to pleased the emperor, during his visit to Bundelkhand region, we ordered to make this palace. This story seems similar to the Jahangir palace of Orchha. Its construction period is estimated for 09 year and lies in western part of the city.
