INTRODUCTION
Ater fort in Bhind lies in Madhya Pradesh state, close to Uttar Pradesh border. It lies in 100 kms north- east of Gwalior city. This fort was built by Bhadauria rulers Badan Singh, Maha Singh and Bakhat Singh in between 1664 to 1668 AD. Derived from the name of Bhadauria rulers, this area was known by the name as Badhwar. This fort is located in the ravines of Chambal, close to Chambal river. It is just 35 km from Bhind town. Tourists visiting Chambal Gharial Sanctuary or Chambal river bank for birding, often goes to visit this hill top fort.

Reaching Ater Fort by Train/ Railways
For visiting Ater fort site by train journey, nearest railway station option is Bhind railway station. It lies on Gwalior - Agra train route thus all important trains traveling from South India to Delhi or Central India to Delhi, passes through this station. Only matter is to check their stoppage. Due to small railway station, it is possible that some trains will not have stoppage here. In such condition, tourists may consider Agra Cantt station or Gwalior station as the point to reach by train and do further journey by cab option.
