Madhya Pradesh museums Mandu is located in 90 km west of Indore city. It is popular heritage tourism destination and eligible to be included in UNESCO World Heritage Sites list. In near future, we may find its name in this list. Travelling along NH59 followed by Sate Highway 31, one can reach this beautiful tourist destination. Tourists from many countries visit Mandu to appreciate its rich heritage treasure. If we go by Mandu history, we find it to be referred as "City of Joy". During Mandu visit, you can find many historical monuments which are now managed by Archaeological Survey of India and includes magnificent palaces, forts, tombs etc. While visiting Jahaz Mahal complex, first thing we encounter is a well maintained small museum referred as ASI museum or Taveli mahal museum or Jahaz Mahal museum. This museum showcases some really interesting exhibits found in Mandu. Most of collections are Hindu sculptures of the 11th and 12th century but there is also a large statue of a Jain Tirthankar. About 10% of the exhibits are devoted to Islamic calligraphy: Islamic tradition forbids the depiction of humans. Reaching by Air :-

Reaching Mandu by Train/ Railways :
For reaching Mandu by train, Indore railway station is the best option. It is about 95 kms in east of Mandu and well connected with other tourist destinations, metro cities of India.

Reaching Mandu by Bus / Roadways :
Mandu is best reached by road. It lies in State Highway-31. Its nearby cities are Dhar, Maheshwar and Indore.
 

Best time to visit

Throughout the year, Mandu is accessible by road. According to convenience, one can visit anytime in a year. Still September to March is a good time as all important festival lies in this duration and climate also remain clear and good. Due to plateau land, in summers it was very hot thus tourism decreases in summer season (April to July) and regain momentum from monsoon season.
