Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival - Bhopal airport - Bhopal city

Our tour will begin with guest arrival at Bhopal airport or railway station. Due to capital city of a state, flight and train connectivity is very good. If you are traveling by train then take note that here 2 important railway stations are used within city i.e. Bhopal Junction (BPL) and Rani Kamlapati Railway Station (RKMP). Some trains have stoppage to another small station called Sant Hirdaram Nagar (SHRN). Sharing all these names to understand that fact that we should clearly know our station name as cab will report accordingly. On reaching Bhopal, transfer to hotel, if we are close to check-in timing else we will go to some restaurant and have some snacks and do some local visit. In this day, we will do city tour in which we will try to visit one or more museums. Here museums like Museum of Mankind, Tribal Museum are popular among visitors and their timing is from afternoon.

Day 02: Bhopal - Bhimbetka Rock Shelters - Satpura National Park

In this day, our main task will be to cover Bhimbetka rock shelters and undertake one safari drive in Satpura national park. After breakfast, we will drive towards south-east. On leaving the Bhopal city behind, we will notice some strange rocky outcrops on our right-handside. Those figures will definitely attract our attention, from long distance as they will be the only rocky outcrop in that hill. These rocky outcrops will be the Bhimbetka rock shelters. They lies in Ratapani tiger reserve forest area, away from main highway. At one point, we will leave the highway road and drive towards Bhimbetka rock shelters. Pay the visitor fee at enroute ticket counter and proceed. Here we will use spot guide service to cover the shelters and try to understand the past of this area, lean about rock paintings, rock shelters, excavation work etc. This visit may take around 2 hrs. Later we will resume our drive towards Satpura national park. On reaching our resort, just relax for sometime, have lunch and get ready for afternoon safari drive. Here we need to note few important points, for jungle safari drive. Mobile phones are not allowed to keep them back, at our room, carry our own camera for photography, carry our ID document for verification, carry own water bottles (provided by resort).

Day 03: Satpura National Park safaris

In this day, we will continue our jungle experience. We will do morning and afternoon safari drives. Here we will have the option to do morning jeep safari and afternoon boat safari (1hr duration). Boat safari is done on backwater area of Tawa dam and offers good sighting of marsh crocodiles and birds on various small islands. For boat safari experience, we should must take our stay near Madhai safari gate as backwater is available only at this safari gate. If not interested in boatsafari then we will do both jeep safaris in morning and afternoon. Forest of Satpura tiger reserve is very beautiful. Presence of backwater offers good water supply to the region thus we will find healty population of deer species, grasslands and green forest covers. Terrain is hilly in Madhai zone. Here we will have good chance to see Sloth Bears, Indian Gaur, Sambar Deer, Spotted Deer etc. At some spots, we will notice tiger movement, leopards movement. In deep forest, we may also find the Indian Giant Squirrel. Inside the forest, we may also see black bucks in spots nearby forest department patrol camps. Here wild elephants are not present thus whatever elephants we will see, during safari drive will be of park management, used for park patrol duties and they stay in elephant camps.

Day 04: Satpura National Park - Pachmarhi

This will be a busy day for us as we will have to reach Pachmarhi and do local sightseeing. Pachmarhi is part of Satpura tiger reserve. Here we can find long list of sightseeing points which needs two full day visit but we will do visit to important points only and enjoy the location. Town is spread over highland part of Satpura hills at considerable height due to which it will be slighly cold here. This site was home of native tribal population from Korku tribe. Later British India officer James Forsyth visited this place and then British India army base was established which later attracted other outsiders people to settle down for service and business. At Pachmarhi, we will use gypsy vehicle for local sightseeing to cover all important points like Bee fall, Dhoopgarh, Reechgarh, Pandav caves etc. After sunset, just relax at your hotel and experience the hill station atmosphere.

Day 05: Pachmarhi - Udaigiri

In this day, our main agenda will be to cover Sanchi stupa and Udaigiri caves. For this, we will begin our day with morning breakfast and begin our drive towards north direction to reach Sanchi stupas site. It is a UNESCO world heritage site, dedicated to Buddhism. It was onetime actie Buddhism study site where scholars use to visit, do their studies, stay for some period and then leave. It is outside Bhopal city thus we will not touch the city but take bypass route. On reaching Sanchi, we will do the park visit, along with local guide. This park is a collection of many stupas of different sizes and some other ruins. Our guide will explain us the story of its making, renovation, gateways etc. We will try to cover all these activities before lunch time. Later we will undertake lunch and then visit Udaigiri caves. It is a separate site, about 14km away from Sanchi. Here spot guides are not available thus we will rely on locally available information notes. Here we will notice various small rock cut caves and carved statues of 4th-5th centuries. This will be a slightly white sandstone hill which is very hard with fine grains. Carving work on such rock is more difficult than yellow sandstone thus artists did commendable work. After sunset, we will just relax at a local resort at forested land, close to Betwa river, in Vidisha district.

Day 06: Udaigiri - Chanderi

In this day, we will reach Chanderi. This will be our last destination of the Bhopal circuit tour but will be a great place to explore. It lies in 250 km north of Bhopal city, well connected by road. It lies in Ashoknagar district of Madhya Pradesh. It ws always on the traditional trade route due to which location was stratigically important. It was on border of Malwa and Bundelkhand region and due to its trade route location, weaving art flourished here and business communities preferred to stay here. It is a collection of large number of monument which includes mosque, tomb, Jain temples, statues, traditional water-well system, palace buildings, gateways, fort etc. Monuments are scattered over a large area thus sightseeing will take time and thus we have allocated 2 days here. We will do guided sightseeing so that we can get best local information and knowledge. At evening, we will do local shops visit to check the local artists work and do some shopping. At present here hotel options are very limited thus advance booking is required to get our rooms booked in advance.

Day 07: Chanderi sightseeing

During Chanderi sightseeing,we will visit all important attractions like Chanderi fort, Shahzadi ka Rauza, Koshak Mahal, Kati Ghati, Ramnagar palace, Jama Masjid, Khandagiri temples, Jain saint statue, Battisi Baoli, Johar monument, Shri Jageshwari temple and great Chanderi museum. If possible, try to cover Budhi Chanderi (ruined township) also. Here sightseeing visit will be so interesting that on every next minute, we will find some new monument. Some monuments are defined but some are still undefined.

Day 08: Chanderi - Bhopal

In this day, we will drive towards south direction to reach our departing point Bhopal city. This will is for reserve time in which if we will miss something on Day 01 of tour package then we will cover them in Day 08. We will do city tour to cover remaining attractions like Birla or Laxmi Narain temple with museum, do lake side drive, some local shopping etc.

Day 09: Chander sightseeing

This will be our last day of tour package. As per time in hand, we can do some local shopping and later take drop to Bhopal airport, for departure.

1. Here advance booking is recommended because of jungle safaris in Satpura national park and high popularity of Pachmarhi hill station. Another challenge is hotels limitation at Udaigiri and Chanderi.
