Lamheta ghat is a village site, located on the bank of most ancient river of India called Narmada river. It lies in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh, about 20 km from city area. It is hardly 3 kms from Bhedaghat site and very well connected by road. This village is very well connected by road and can be accessed in any season, round the clock. From tourism point of view, this village is very important spot to find both sedimentary and basalt rocks are same place, along with some ancient Hindu temples. 

What to see ?

When we search about Lamheta village, we will get the information about it as a normal villager site which is now turning into a sub-urban site and about proposed Geo park. It is located on the river bank thus here we will find proper ghat areas where local people and visitors often seen while taking holy bath. So we have many reasons to visit this village site like:

  • It is a villager site thus if you are interested in visiting a village, nearby Jabalpur city then we may choose this place.
  • It is a river bank area thus if you are interested in visiting river bank area to witness Narmada river then it is ideal place to visit.
  • It is a geologically rich site to see ancient rocks.
  • Post death rituals site. It is a holy site where Hindu religion followers use to visit for post death rituals. For this separate spot was developed and used by nearby people, since many centuries.
  • This village site offers visit to ancient temples in which some are active and some are inactive temples.
  • When we visit this site, we get practical knowledge of Lameta rock formations.

When to visit ?

As it is a village site so we can visit this place at any period of the year and at anytime of the day. Due to river bank area, we suggest to visit this village site in tourism months i.e. from October to May period when water level remain under control and local people are actively visiting the ghat areas. Try to visit this village in daytime only (avoid night visit) so that we can see everything properly and experience the richness of this place. Before sunrise or after sunset, it is of no use to visit as river bank areas don't have electricity light supply.
