Detailed Itinerary

Day 01: Arrival Bhopal - Satpura national park (110 km)

On arrival at Bhopal airport, we will take meal in city and then proceed to Satpura natioanl park. It is just 03:00 hr away from Bhopal city, when driven non-stop. While driving towards Satpura tiger reserve, we will pass through Ratapani tiger reserve forest area. Here we will find UNESCO world heritage site called Bhimbetka rock shelters, known for ancient rock paintings. We will take advantage of its enroute presence and if timer permits then we will visit this site. On reaching Satpura national park, we wil just relax at our room in the resort. Here few resorts are river facing while some of them are forest facing. We try to book rooms in river facing stay options so that while sitting in our resort, we will enjoy the river water and Satpura hills on its backdrop.

Day 02: Morning & Afternoon Jeep Safaris

On this day we will undertake morning and afternoon jeep safari drives. Satpura forest is tropical deciduous forest with rich biodiversity. Here we will do jeep safaris with forest guide. This forest is usually associated with Captain James Forsyth as he introduced it to rest of the world. At the same time, it is also associated with Allen Hugh who wrote famous book The Lonely Tiger in which he shared his life in Satpura forest and details of his hunting expeditions. When we do jeep safaris through Madhai gate then for every safari drive, we have to cross the backwater of Denwa river thus we do daily short boat ride to cross the river and start begin the safari drive. During all our safari drives, we need to carry our identity document, for verification purpose. In addition to this, we need to carry our own water bottles (provided by resort), cap, sunglasses, good camera etc. Now a day, due to restriction of mobile phones, we should must bring our own camera to capture safari moments. Here we will have high probability to find mammals and birds, at their natural habitat. Some of the commonly seen animals are like Sloth bear, Leopards, Spotted Deer, Sambar Deer, Nilgai, Tiger, Grey Langur, Barking Deer, Indian Gaur etc. In addition to this animals like Black Bucks and Wild Dogs are also present but their sighting is occasional. Giant Indian Squirrel is the mascot of this tiger reserve but its sighting is area centric. River water often offers crocodile sighting.

Day 03: Morning Jeep Safari, Evening Boat Safari

On this day, we will continue our jeep safari explorations. Here Madhai zone forest is very scenic and best place for sloth bears. In compare to other national parks, at Satpura national park, we can easily find the sloth bear in daytime. Similarly Indian Gaur population is also very good. Spotted deer sighting is average but Sambar deer will be seen frequently. Here we may also expect better sighting of leopards. We will do the jeep safari in morning hours as it offers long duration. For evening period, we will do the boat safari ride. It is offered on per hour basis and excellent for birding and crocodiles sighting. During boat safari, must carry your camera and be quick in clicking the pictures. If luck prevails, we may find tiger movement on backwater bank area, especially during summer season.

Day 04: Satpura National Park - Bhopal Departure (110 km)

This will be our last day of tour package thus no hurry for early morning wake up for safaris. Just have relaxed wake up, take morning round of resort and enjoy the surrounding nature. After breakfast, we will drive back to Bhopal city. In this day, we will visit world famous Sanchi stupa site. It is approx. 01:00 hr away from main city, a hill top location with famous Buddhist stupas and a separate museum also. Later in evening, drive back to our hotel.

Day 05: Bhopal Sightseeing  Departure

As per time in hand, we will continue our Bhopal city tour. We have option to explore it museums. Later drop to Bhopal airport or railway station, for departure.

1. For sake of doing jeep safaris in popular safari zone, we should must confirm the tour in 90-120 days in advance. It is for our own benefit.
2. Due to mobile phone restriction on safari drives, we advice to carry your own camera.
3. Apart from jeep safaris, we may do local village visit, nature walk. Night safaris are not operating.
