Introduction

Usually Khitauli zone is termed as Zone-3 of Bandhavgarh national park. It is a popular jeep safari zone which falls in core forest area and lies in north-west part of tiger reserve area. This safari zone have its own safari entry gate called Khitauli gate, approxl 08 km from Tala village ticket counter. While traveling from Jabalpur airport to Bandhavgarh or Katni to Bandhavgarh we pass through this entry gate. Here Umaria-Manpur road divides it from other 2 core zones i.e. Tala zone and Magadhi zones. Since year 2012, this safari zone is open for tourists and in this period of time, it gained popularity among wildlife photographes due to good tiger sighting probability. Due to its popularity, here safari permits get sold out quickly thus for visiting this zone, we must confirm the bookings about 120 days in advance.

Topography

In compare to Tala zone, Khitauli zone is not hilly but more or less a plain zone with some undulating terrains. Here we will find both rocky terrains, wetlands and dense forested plains.
